Van Morrison urges music industry to “fight the pseudo-science” | Nialler9

Noted Northern Irish songwriter Van Morrison has put up a post on his website that calls for people to “stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up” when it comes to COVID-19.

In a statement on his site entitled “Save Live Music”, Van says he wants full capacity gigs to come back so that things can get back on track.

I call on my fellow singers, musicians, writers, producers, promoters and others in the industry to fight with me on this.

Come forward, stand up, fight the pseudo-science and speak up.

Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber and myself appear to be the only people in the music business trying to get it back up and running again. Come forward.

While the 74-year-old is planning on playing socially distant gigs “get my band up and running and out of the doldrums,” the post signals he does not believe in the current guidelines that require social distancing and protection at gigs.

Hot Press are currently running a series of tributes from Irish artists including Hozier, Sinead O’Connor, Gary Lightbody, President Michael D Higgins and more to the music of Van Morrison.
